Practical Nurse (Full-Time)

The Full-time Practical Nurse Program offered by Bow Valley College in the Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek and Claresholm prepares graduates to provide high-quality nursing care in hospitals, continuing and community care facilities and other health related institutions. Practical Nurses help clients  with daily living activities, perform assessments, provide prescribed medical treatments and create safe, comfortable environments for their patients.  The majority of the program will  be delivered  in your home community although students may be required to travel within the Consortium region for the 20-week clinical practicum placements. Graduates write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination to become Licensed Practical Nurses.

 Admission Requirements:
•   60% minimum in English 30-1 (30) or 70% in English 30-2 (33) and/or equivalents
• Credit in Math 20 Pure with a minimum mark of 50% or a minimum final mark of 60% in Math 20 Applied or          equivalent
•   60% minimum in Biology 30 or 60% in Bow Valley College's Anatomy & Physiology/Microbiology
•   Up-to-date immunizations
•   Minimum 18 years of age
•   CPR Level "C" Basic Rescuer
•   Police Information check

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology

The EMR program provides the necessary skills and knowledge for an entry-level emergency care provider and is a prerequisite for being selected into the EMT Program and in turn to the EMT-Paramedic.
Complete in your home community with weekend workshops in Claresholm or Pincher Creek (depending on the program enrolled in).
