Early
Learning and Child Care Certificate and Diploma
Bow Valley College
Bow Valley College
offers the Early Childhood Education Certificate and Diploma Programs on a part
time basis at the student’s nearest Consortium site. Students will participate
through independent study using print-based materials and in scheduled evening
(generally 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.) audio conference sessions at the Consortium. Occasional
face-to-face sessions will be held at a central Consortium site. Practicum
experiences are scheduled throughout the program. Students may utilize their existing work place
(if it qualifies) to complete the practicum, where appropriate.
The Early
Learning and Child Care Diploma Program is designed to prepare graduates to work
in child care settings with young children and families. The program combines
theory in child development, programming and communications, with practical
application of knowledge and skills. Students may exit the program after
meeting the first year requirements with a certificate. Selected courses in the
first and second year of the Diploma program will be offered in each of the
fall, winter and spring terms.
